Quoted Job Versioning
Quoting and Budgeting a Job
A Job Quote is a special kind of sales quote. When a job is in the quote state, you can make preliminary budget calculations based on which the job is offered to a customer. You can set up or change the job's task structure and schedule. In the Quote state the Estimate must be broken down into budget lines with the help of a Breakdown function where each Job Cost Type per Element can be broken down in individual budget lines. From the budget line the Job Item Price can be opened from the ribbon.
A Job Quote is either created from the planning state or can be created directly from an Opportunity or manually through the Create Job action. A Job Quote can be created for a Contact in combination with a Customer Template. In the Quote state a Service Object can be created from the Job Deliverable, with this Service Object the Service Department can start planning and prepare service contracts.
In the Quote state you can archive the Job Quote to create a new version. From the Job Quote Archive you Restore an archived Job Quote to create a new version of the Job Quote. The latest version is always the active version which is either printed as a Job Quote to the customer or used to Make the Job.
You should be able to post hours to Jobs in Quote state, however you cannot invoice from the Job Quote. When the Job Quote is Won, and promoted to the Order state, with the help of the Make Job function, a Customer is created (when required) and the Job Quote is archived. Any hours or cost posted to the Job are carried to the Order state as well where they can be handled as usual. When a Job Quote is Lost it is archived and when hours or costs were posted to the Job the costs must be posted to a specific account (Job Setup: Job Quote Lost account).
