How to set up allergen codes
Use the Allergen Codes page to enter allergen codes and their descriptions.
Every country has its own definition of what an allergen is. There is no single list of allergens that applies to all countries in the world.
To support this, you can define your own list of allergens by entering a code and a description. If necessary, you can block an allergen from use. However, you can only block an allergen when it is not part of a current allergen set linked to an item, unapproved item, or BOM. The database structure prevents deletion of an allergen once it has been used anywhere in the system. You can therefore only delete an allergen when it has not been added to any source.
Where used
To check where an allergen is used, use the Where Present functionality. This creates a view of items, unapproved items, and BOMs that contain a reference to that allergen. The presence can be of two types: "Allergen" or "May Contain." This is determined when an allergen code is linked to an item, unapproved item, or BOM.
The view of allergen presence is split between the three objects to which allergens can be linked. The list of where the allergen is present therefore depends on the choice made in the COUNT factbox for either Item, Unapproved Item, or BOM.
Allergen rollup
Linking an allergen to an item or BOM can have consequences for other items or BOMs that are linked to it. For this purpose, an Allergen Rollup action is available. This is described on a separate page.
