Design Detail: Duration vs Capacity

With the detailed daily schedule the Job Task Planning information fact box will show the available working time for the duration of the Job Task combined with the budgeted and planned capacity:

Field Calculation Explanation
Duration (Hrs): 40 The total number of normal working hours between the starting - and ending date of the Job Task.
Duration Buffer (Hrs): 0 The total number of over-time working hours between the starting - and ending date of the Job Task.
Max.Duration (Hrs): 40 The maximum available work time (normal + over time) between the starting - and ending date of the Job Task.

Budgeted Res.Cap.(Hrs): 40 The total hours of work budgeted for the Job Task (budget lines copied to a planning line are excluded.
Planned Res.Cap.(Hrs): 0 The total hours of work remaining on the Job Task Planning Lines for the Job Task.
Required Capacity (Hrs): 40 The total hours of work budgeted and planned for the Job Task.

Required Resources: 1 The calculated number of resources required to complete the work within the duration of the Job Task.
Planned Resources: 0 The number of resources actually planned for the Job Task, when > Required Resources the number will be red

Note: The Duration quantities are based on the Time Details schedule set in the Base Calendar

There are 40 hours planned for this task and overtime is not allowed.
The project budget shows also 40 hours but have not been copied to a planning line yet.
For this task 1 resource is required but at this point 0 are planned.

How to: Set the Time details

  1. Choose the  icon, enter Base Calendars, and then choose the related link.
  2. Select the Base Calendar you are using for Jobs and open it for editing.
  3. In the Base Calendar card click Time Details in the ribbon.
  4. In the Time Details page you can create a detailed week schedule with the following fields:
Field Description
Weekday Select a day of the week
Work Type Select a Work Type
Time Type The Time Type will be copied from the default as set with the Work Type. The options are: Shop Time; Break; Over Time as explained with Work Types
Start - and End Time Type the start and end time for this line

Note: Sort the weekday column to have an easy overview per day

Return to Job Order and Work Preparation
