How to link and view allergens and BOMs
Allergens on a BOM can be linked in two separate ways. The first way is the way of the ingredients. As stated before, when ingredients contain an allergen, processing these ingredients into another product will transfer these allergens to the new product created. The second way of linking allergens to a BOM is on the "may-contain" level. If production of an item takes place on a machine (resource) or in a production room where Allergen containing items are also being processed, there is a risk of cross-contamination. This risk can be entered on the BOM level as "May contain".
Allergens can be linked to a BOM only on the version level. The subsequent results can be seen on the BOM-level.
Adding allergens to a BOM through the ingredients can only be performed by executing the function "Rollup Allergens". This function will look at all BOM-components at all levels and determine if individual items contain allergens and if so, they will be "rolled up" to their associated BOM-level.
Please note that only BOM-versions with status "Certified" will be part of the allergen rollup. BOM-versions with status NEW or Under Development will not be part of this process.
To link an allergen to a BOM-version, first of all the version needs to be set to "Under Development". On the Navigate tab in the ribbon, the button Allergens may then be used to add allergens of the type "May Contain".
To view allergens linked directly or indirectly to a BOM, the button "Allergen Detail" can be used. This is an overview of allergens on the BOM-level that is created on the sport with all available information at the current time, regardless of the current status of the BOM-version.
