How To : Work with Group assignments
The Start/Stop functionality for resource tasks has been extended by a group selection. This is useful when many resources are assigned to a task. In that case you can open a selection window from the Start/Stop Wizard to select the resources for which the task has to be started.
Group assignments from Advanced Job Management
- Select Resource Planning from a Job Task and create multiple lines for individual resources with the same resource group and Release the resource planning lines.
- From the Resource Task List, ./Departments/Resource Planning/Resource Task, select the Task for which you planned the resources and click Start"to open the "Time Input Line Wizard".
- In the Time Input Line Wizard select the Resource Group for the resources planned in step 1 which will show the Time Assignments Select page.
- In this page select the individual resources which will actually start the task, the Assignments field on the Time Input Line Wizard will show the number of assignments created from this selection.
- Click Finish in the Time Input Line Wizard to actually start the resource tasks.
Group assignments from Manufacturing
In Manufacturing, you now can create an assignment for a Resource Group. That assignment has to be made specific before the task can be started
- To open the "Prod. Order Routing Resource" select a production order and from the Line menu select Routing. From the Prod. Order Routing page select the NAVIGATE tab and click Resources.
- In the Prod. Order Routing Resource page you can assign either a Resource or a Resource Group to the operation and specify in a % if the Resource is assigned to do the Setup or Run the operation (or both).
- In this scenario a Resource Group is selected. When selected click "Create Task Assignment" in the ribbon to create the assignment for the Resource Group.
- The My Assignments list can be filtered on Resource Groups. From the Ribbon, you can open the Task List for the selected assignment. From this list the task can be started.
Notes
- In most cases the current user will be a member of the selected Resource Group and Finish can be selected to start the task.
- If the current user is not part of the selected group, a warning appears to say, ?You are not part of the assigned group.? The user can then close the Wizard and select another assignment.
- When the user selects Finish, it is assumed that the user is, temporarily, assigned to another group and the Time Input line is created for that Resource or Resource Group combination.
