IEM - Advanced Job Management

Project Manager Role Center

IEM has been aligned with the Dynamics 365 Business Central role center. The IEM Project Manager role center consists of the following main component:

Job Activities

In the Job Activities section the Cues in the first row show the number of Jobs in the different states:

  • Planned: Jobs being estimated
  • Quoted: Jobs being quoted with detailed calculations in different versions
  • Open: Jobs being executed
  • Warning: Jobs with a Forecast warning, actuals higher than the budgeted value. For this cue thresholds can be set in the "Set Up Cues" to change the colour of the top bar.

The New Job action will open a wizard with which the user can create a new Job by either selecting a Job to Copy from or select a Job Template to create the new Job from.

The second row of cues shows all pending replenishment lines for Jobs in purchasing, production and assembly.

The third row of cues provides information on the financial side of Jobs, the invoicing and the work in process. For the Invoices Due cue also the indicator can be set as with the Job Warning cue.

My Jobs

This section lists all the Jobs for which the current user is the project manager. On the job header a Person Responsible can be selected from the resource list. The user ID linked to the resource in the User Setup will be copied to the project manager field and is the key for populating the My Jobs list. The graphs will be shown for the Jobs listed in My Jobs and have been aligned with the IEM data model:

  • Job Profitability, the difference between costs from budget lines and line amount from billable lines.
  • Job Actual Cost to Budget Cost shows the variance between the totals of budgeted - and actual costs.
  • Job Actual Price to Budget Price shows the variance between the totals of budgeted - and actual prices.

Job Overview

As part of the Role Center a Job Overview page is available bringing together the main components of a Job. The purpose of the Job Overview page is to provide an overview of the Job and make it easier to create a, printed, Job Confirmation. The report for this has been updated to include the comment sections and has the option to hide or display the Job Tasks.

The Job Overview page is opened from the My Jobs list in the IEM Project Management role center and brings the main job components together on the fast tabs. The page shows a graph with the cumulative values for the Job to compare budgeted costs to forecasted costs as well as a line representing the invoicing schedule.

The Job Overview page itself is not editable. Each of the fast tabs has an Edit button to open the related page from which the lines can be actually edited. Besides the Edit button a Comments button provides direct access to the comments linked to the selected line on the fast tab. Comments can be edited with the help of a simple text editor which is included in IEM as an extension.

The fast tabs in the Job Overview show the following Job Components:

  • Deliverables: The result of the project that is intended to be delivered to a customer (either internal or external). From the Deliverables page Service Objects can be created.
  • Billable Lines: contract ? or billable lines to be invoiced, created either with the Initialize function for fixed price Jobs or automatically through the Time & Material or Delivery invoicing methods.
  • Tasks: Lists the Job Tasks as the work packages for the Job.
  • Documents: the document store for the Job linked to the Project Site.

S-Curve Chart

An s-curve is a mathematical graph or illustration that illustrates the cumulative data for the Job. The data represents the cumulative amounts of Forecast, Actuals and Billables during the timeline of the Job.
