Transport and Deliveries - Add Transport Order Cost Lines
You can add Transport Costs and additional surcharges to a Transport Order. When a transport order is Released, a check is made if Transport Costs were added and based on the "Cost Warning" setting in the Transport and Deliveries Set-up either a warning or an error is given when no cost lines were found for the Transport Order. This topic describes the process to add cost lines to a transport order. Transport Order cost lines can also be added from the Delivery Trip.
To add Cost lines to a transport order
- Choose the
icon (Alt+Q) enter Transport Orders and click the relevant link. - Select a transport order from the list and click Edit to open the transport order.
- Click Transport Cost in the Home group to open the Transport Costs window.
- Typically, you must provide values in the following fields and Click Refresh Transport Costs.

| Type | Specify the type of cost line to be used. The options are as follows. - Cost Component - Cost Component Template |
| No. | Specify the cost component code or the cost component template code. |
| Amount | Based on the specified Type, you need to enter the amount or it is calculated automatically. - If Type is set to Cost Component, the value must be entered. - If Type is set to Cost Component Template, the value is calculated automatically. The amount is calculated as the sum of all components defined in the template. |
| Currency Code | (Hidden) Specify the currency code to be used for the cost components. When left blank, the local currency is used. |
| G/L Account | This field is not editable. The field contains the G/L account used in the process of creating a purchase invoice line. |
- When a cost component template is added, the calculation is performed based on the components which are available in the cost overview.
- When a cost component template is added to the cost overview before the applicable cost components, the calculation is not automatically started.
The Refresh Transport Costs function performs the following:
- The function (re)calculates all present cost components templates and is useful when transport costs are changed after a transport cost template has been added.
- This function is always called when a transport order is released. This ensures that all available transport costs are calculated when a transport order is released.
