Manufacturing Integration - Resources in Manufacturing
Design Detail: Resources in Manufacturing
In Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (JMS) the Resource Task allows you to track Setup and Runtime for the operator separate from the machine time.
You can prepare this in the Routing Operation "Operation Resources", In this field you can select Resource Groups for Setup - as well as for Runtime. With the % based setting multiple Resource Groups, or Resources, can be assigned for all or part of the operation.
On the Work - or Machine centre you can specify how to start the machine time and track it through entries in the Time Input line worksheet.
When the operator starts the task the program detects if the specified Work - or Machine is set to start accordingly. As per the setting a time input line for the machine time is created as well as the operator. When the operator stops the task, while a machine task is running, the program prompts the operator with the question if the machine task must be stopped and if output has to be posted. When the answer is No the machine will continue to run "unmanned". To stop the machine task, an operator starts and stops a task to open the "stop machine" sequence again.
The Machine task will bypass the time registration so, when posted production order progress is more up to date as it does not have to wait for the registration, approval and posting of time sheets. The standard cost posting for capacity costs is followed with the additional option to add the cost of the operator to the capacity costs.
Assigning resources, or resource groups, to operations
You can select a resource or resource-group in the following pages:
- Standard Task Resource: The standard task is used as a "template" for creating operations in routings.
- Routing Resources: This routing (when certified) will be used in the production order.
- Production Order routing lines [Planned - Firm Planned - Released] Prod. Orders - Lines/Routing - Navigate/Resources.
In each of the above pages you have to complete the following fields:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Resource Group | Select a Resource group to which the Resource Task will be assigned. When a resource from that group starts the task the time registration will be resource specific. |
Resource No. | Select a Resource to which the Resource Task will be assigned. |
Description | Will be retrieved from the Resource Group or Resource No. |
Comment | Yes, Indicates if additional comments have been made for this line. |
Work Type | Select a Work Type for the assignment line, in resources groups and resources costs and prices can be specified per Work Type |
Operation Type | Select either Setup - or Run Time, each type must have its own line. |
Operation % | Select the amount of time for the assignment based on a percentage, ie 100% means the selected resource group or resource will complete 100% of the time shown in prod. order need. |
Prod. Order Need | Only for Production order routing line, the needed time is retrieved from the Prod. Order Capacity Need |
Add to Capacity Cost | When checked the cost of the resource will be posted to the production order, otherwise only the time will be posted with a 0 cost |
Linking a work- / machine center to a resource-machine
On the Work - or Machine center card you can select the starting option:
- Blank: The Work - / Machine center will not start when an operator starts a Resource Task for the operation
- Setup: The Work - / Machine center will start when an operator starts a Resource Task for the operation and selects Setup time
- Runtime: The Work - / Machine center will start when an operator starts a Resource Task for the operation and selects Run time
- Both: The Work - / Machine center will start when an operator starts a Resource Task for the operation and selects Setup time or Run time
Make sure to pay attention to the Units of Measure of both entities. The production UOM are identified by a type, either [100/Hour, Minutes, Hours, Days]. The Unit Of Measure table is extended with a type field which will be copied to the Resource Unit Of Measure.
Process Machine time
When a Work / Machine Center is started from an Operator Resource task the Time Input Lines will be shown in the Time Output Worksheet. These Time Output Lines will follow the same status sequence as the Time Input Line: Open > Completed > Registered. Open and Completed are set by the Start and Stop actions on the Resource Task. The status Registered will be set when the Time Output Line is Posted.
The Post action will create a Capacity Ledger Entry on the Production Order, provided that a Unit Cost is specified for the Work / Machine center.
