Planning Advanced
A set of tools to enhance the standard Material planning functionality.
Change on existing orders
Indicate that an existing purchase - or production order has to be changed. This will allow the planner to concentrate either on the New orders first or last.
- In the Search box, type Planning Worksheet.
- Select Planning Worksheet from the Manufacturing department.
- Note the Change on Exiting Orders field (not editable) which will be set by the program.
Update multi-level Planning production orders
When shifting production order lines in time in a multilevel structure the relation between the lines is now being considered.
- In the Search box, type Advanced Manufacturing Setup.
- Select Advanced Manufacturing Setup to open the Industrial Equipment Manufacturing setup window.
- Select the Multi-Level Production fasttab with the following options.

| Action on Higher Production Order Levels | Select the action to be taken in multilevel structure production orders when moving higher level production order lines: Blank = No option selected: Ask for Confirmation = the production order lines are moved after user confirmation; Update automatically = if selected, the production order lines are moved automatically. |
| Action on Lower Production Order Levels | Select the action to be taken in multilevel structure production orders when moving lower level production order lines: Blank = No option selected; Ask for Confirmation = the production order lines are moved after user confirmation; Update automatically = if selected, the production order lines are moved automatically. |
Limited material explosion
When on the planning system only calculates material requirements when one of the SKU components - or one of the requisition lines is Make To Order. Production orders for items with Manufacturing Policy 'Make -to-Stock' are created on the parent level. The lower levels in the production tree are not added independent if sufficient stock is available. Production orders for items with Manufacturing Policy 'Make -to-Order' however are not influenced by this feature.
- In the Search box, type Advanced Manufacturing Setup.
- Select Advanced Manufacturing Setup to open the Industrial Equipment Manufacturing setup window.
- Select the Planning fasttab and locate the "Limited Material Explosion" checkbox.
Controlled release of planning requisitions
When on the user has to manually accept the Action Messages in the requisition lines, when off the Boolean "Accept" is checked automatically. The function forces the use to authorize the action messages.
- In the Search box, type Advanced Manufacturing Setup.
- Select Advanced Manufacturing Setup to open the Industrial Equipment Manufacturing setup window.
- Select the Planning fasttab and locate the "Accept Action Masseages Manually" checkbox.
Blanket sales order integration
When on the Blanket Sales Orders are not considered as demand, when off they will be part of the material requirements calculation.
- In the Search box, type Advanced Manufacturing Setup.
- Select Advanced Manufacturing Setup to open the Industrial Equipment Manufacturing setup window.
- Select the Planning fasttab and locate the "Exclude Blanket Sales Orders from MRP" checkbox.
Include Blanket Purchase Orders in MRP
When on the Blanket Purchase Orders are considered as supply, when off they are ignored. This will include the Blanket Purchase Orders into the supply calculation. Planning request within the shipping date consumes supply from the Purchase Blanket Orders while a requested shipping date later than the vendor lead time causes a Blanket Purchase Order.
Automatic Link of Blanket Purchase orders. When this link is on the Carry Out Action Message ? from the Planning Worksheet will search for a Blanket Purchase Order Line with the same item when creating a purchase order. When found a purchase order will be created with a link to this Blanket Purchase Order Line. When the purchase order is posted for receipt the quantity in the purchase order will be deducted from the Blanket Purchase Order Line.
- In the Search box, type Advanced Manufacturing Setup.
- Select Advanced Manufacturing Setup to open the Industrial Equipment Manufacturing setup window.
- Select the Planning fasttab and locate the "Blanket Purch. Order Consumption" checkbox.
- Select the Planning fasttab and locate the "Automatic link of Blanket Purchase Orders" checkbox.
The functionality also includes some setting on the item:
- Blanket Order Consumption, this marks the item as to be included in the Blanket Purch. Order Consumption.
- Call of Period, additional period to be added as a buffer period to the lead time to create a toytal "call-of-period" for the item.
The planning system will create purchase orders for any demand within the call-off period (lead time + buffer). For demand beyond the call off period a blanket purchase order will be created. In this way it is possible to "generate" delivery schedules for long lead time items. Which in turn can then be consumed through the Automatic Link of Blanket Purchase Orders.
