What's New in IEM for D365 Business Central

Changes compared to the NAV 2018 version of IEM

BC17.0 - Release Business Central 2020 Wave 2

IEM for BC17 is a major release where some new features were added on top of the 16.5 functionality. The new features are related to job specific posting for production orders. Handling work in process between production orders and jobs can be confusing when postings to the production order are immediately copied to job ledger entries. This means that the same WIP exists in 2 places when the Job WIP is calculated and posted and the production is not yet Finished. To address that a new setting has been added: Transfer WIP from Production Order. When set to true the production order entries are only copied to job ledger entries when the status of the production order is changed to Finished. With this added feature IEM now offers the following scenarios for integration between Jobs and Production Orders:

  • The standard option: production orders are completed, and output is posted to inventory and consumed in the job from inventory, in other words no integration.
  • The Job Specific option: job item planning lines are marked as job specific as is the production order. All postings to the production order are immediately copied to job ledger entries.
  • The Transfer WIP option: Job item planning lines cannot be marked as job specific; the production order is linked to the job through the reservation entries. When the production order status is changed to Finished entries are copied to Job Ledger Entries. A report: Job WIP and Expected WIP shows the WIP in production orders reserved for the Job.
  1. Transfer WIP from Production Order to Job This new setting in IEM Manufacturing Integration Setup allows you to postpone the transfer of WIP details from a, job specific, production order to the job until you change the status of the production order to “Finished”. When the setting is off the functionality will behave as before: when posting to a, job specific, production order the job ledger entries are created at the same time.

  2. Report: Job WIP Expected WIP A new report has been added to the Reports menu in the IEM project Manager role center showing the Job’s work in process with the expected WIP from production orders. This report is relevant when the Transfer WIP from Production is true as per the previous new feature.

  3. Explode Production BOM option in Standard Cost Worksheet In the standard cost worksheet, a new option has been added “Explode BOM”. This option allows you to set a new standard cost for all items on the first level of a production BOM. Additionally, the field Last Direct Cost has been added to assist in setting the New Standard Cost.

  4. Jobs and Production Orders linked through reservation entries From the Job Item Planning line, you can reserve an existing Production Order. Job and Production Order are then linked through the reservation entries. However, the Transfer WIP option will only work when quantities are matched, in other words a partial reservation is not supported for this feature.

  5. Push Pull point fields are marked as obsolete The “push pull” in the production BOM have been marked as obsolete and have been removed from the pages. Since Production BOMs cannot be expanded anymore in the Job Planning lines item that were marked as push pull were missed by the planning system.

  6. Drill down to Job Task No. in Load Template wizard When using the Load Template action in a Job Task list you can now drill down to the Job Task No. to select a Job Task No. as the "Last No. Used". The selected template will then be inserted starting on the next no. taking the specified interval into account.

BC16.4 - Release Business Central 2020 Wave 1, update 4

    • Design Detail: Workload, Availability and Source Files

  2. Create a Job Resource Price list from Resource Prices
The Resource Price - and Resource Cost worksheet have been re-worked. A new function has been added to allow you to load, review and update resource prices from the Resource Price or Resource Group Prices and to implement these prices as a Job Resource Price list. The Job Budget line will always search the Job Resource Prices first.

BC14 - Release Business Central 2019 Spring Update

  1. Aligned with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Spring 2019 Update.
IEM has been aligned with version 14.0 Build 14.0.29537.0
  2. Negative Planning Lines.
The focus of this new feature is on being able to handle planned returns through a warehouse receipt and post the returns to inventory while showing the return value in the project’s budget and ledger entries. Warehouse employees can retrieve return planning lines in a warehouse receipt. When the warehouse receipt and the put-away is posted job – and item ledger entries are created to show the returned items in inventory as well as in the project.
  3. Container Status.
Will show the containers with their content from the warehouse shipment or job item planning line.
  4. Create service item from posted delivery.
When a Service Item Group is specified for an item and on that Service Item Group the Create Service Item is checked a Service Item will be created when the item is shipped from a sales order. The same functionality has been added to the Posted Delivery in a Job. The Posted Delivery is created direct from the job item planning line or through posting a warehouse document like Inventory Pick or Warehouse Shipment.
  5. Unit of Measure Type.
This setting has been moved from the Resource Unit of Measure table to the Unit of Measure table. The setting is required for the proper conversion of the Resource Unit of Measure to the Capacity Unit of Measure. This change will simplify the setup of resources.
  6. Resources in Manufacturing.
Integrations between resources and capacity centers have been simplified. It is no longer necessary (and possible) to calculate resource capacity entries based on the capacity center calendar. Recording time for production operations is now separated between operator – and machine time. Assignments to the Resource Task are created automatically when the production order is changed to the status Released. When the, released, production order is refreshed all tasks and assignments are deleted and re-created, unless one of the tasks has been started, in that case refresh is not allowed anymore.
  7. Combined operations.
Production order routing operations can be combined into one resource task. From the combined task time, output and material consumption can be posted to be divided over the combined production orders.

BC13 - Release Business Central CU1

IEM has been aligned with cumulative Update 1 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central CU1

  3. Transport and Deliveries.
The former Transport Order Management has been integrated in IEM as addition to Warehouse Management.
  4. Job Specific versions of BOM and Routing.
Production – and Assembly BOMs can no longer be expanded in the planning lines. Instead job specific versions of these BOMs can be created from the Job Budget – as well as the Job Planning line.
  5. Compensation.
Compensation has been extended with new leave types to track Time-for-time and scheduled time off.
