Cross-Docking Containers

With Transport and Deliveries it is possible to receive items in a Container, put the Container away in a cross-dock bin and pick the complete Container again from a Delivery Shipment. To enable this function the following settings must be made:

  1. The Warehouse must be set as a "Directed Put-away and Pick" warehouse.
  2. The "Use Cross-Docking" option must be checked and the "Cross-Dock Due Date Calc." must specify a Date Formula on the Warehouse tab of the Location Card. Finally select a "Cross-Dock Bin Code" on the Bins tab of the Location card. On the Job Card a "Cross-Dock Bin Code" can be selected as well as a "Cross-Dock Due Date Calc" date formula to override the same on the Loacation Card

Process a Cross-Dock

The cross-docking process consists of the following steps:

RECEIVING

  1. Create a Warehouse Receipt from a Job Specific purchase order.
    Note: that the "Qty. to Cross-Dock" field in the Warehouse Receipt Lines is automatically calculated
  2. Select the lines that you want to add to a container (hold down the Ctrl key to select multiple lines)
  3. In the Line menu click "Create Container"
  4. In the pop-up select the "container type" and optionally type a License Plate number. When left blank the Container ID will be copied to the License Plate.
  5. When all lines have been added to a container(s) open the "Container Worksheet" from the Warehouse Receipt ribbon.
  6. From the Container Worksheet you can open the Container Card(s) to Print Label(s) and review the container details.
    Note: Make sure to change the Container Status to "Closed"
  7. When all Containers are Closed, close the Container Worksheet and post the Warehouse Receipt to create the Warehouse Put-away
  8. From the "Warehouse/Goods Handling Multiple Orders" menu open Put-aways to retrieve the document just created and Register it.
    Note: the bin location where the container is put-away, is either the Location Cross-Dock bin or the Job Cross-Dock bin as per your settings

SHIPPING

  1. Create a Delivery Shipment from the Job Task, this will open the Whse. Shipment Lines page.
  2. From the Whse. Shipment Lines use Show Whse. Document to open the Warehouse Shipment
  3. Use Create Pick from the ribbon, when completed go to the Navigate tab to open the Pick Lines
  4. Open the Container Worksheet from the Pick Lines ribbon
  5. Use the Cross-Dock Container from the Container Worksheet ribbon to select the container from the Cross-Dock bin.
    This action will change the TRansport Type of the Container from Inbound to Outbound and mark the Pick Lines as picked after which the pick can be Registered.
