How To : Cost Resources in Production
When Resources are linked to Capcity Centers the costs of that Capacity Center can be set in a number of different ways:
On the General tab of the setup you select how the resource costs are posted with the setting in the Cost Posting field:
- Capacity Center Cost Only: an inclusive rate for the work / machine center is assumed: the Direct Unit Cost + Indirect Cost % + Overhead Rate = Unit Cost
- Capacity Center Cost + Resource Cost: the cost of the resource is added separately as Capacity Ledger entry, for example when an operation has a lot of "unmanned" machine.
When Resources post their time through Time Registration either in Time Sheets or through the Start/Stop function, Resource costs are posted to the Production Order independent from the Capacity Center.
When Work - Machine centers are integrated with resources the machine time posting bypasses the time sheet and is directly posted as Capacity Ledger Entry.
