How to: Use Job Queue

Use this task when you want to process your NAV BIS connections automatically, using the Job Queue functionality. This task describes how to use Job Queue feature of Microsoft Dynamics NAV with the Business Integration Solutions.

To use job queue:

1. On Microsoft Dynamics NAV Client:

• Go to the Users List and add a New user. In the Windows Authentication fast tab, select the Windows Network Service account in the Windows User Name field.
• Provide SUPER user permission.

2. On Microsoft Dynamics NAV Administration Tool:

• Select the NAV Server Instance which is used for Microsoft Dynamics NAV in the list and click Edit.
• Provide the necessary general settings, especially Database Name, Services Default Company.
• For the NAS settings et the Startup Codeunit to 450, which is default for the Job Queue in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

3. On Microsoft Dynamics NAV Client:

• Go to one of the BIS connections and activate the Job Queue field in relevant element (say Record Change Event).
• Click the Job Queue Setup.
• On the Job Queue Entry card, define the settings for the Job Queue, like the Earliest Start Date, Recurrence settings and a Description.
• Click Set Status to Ready.

In the Job Queue Entries list, a new Job Queue Entry is created for this Record Change Event. From the Job Queue Entries list you are able to see if the Job Queue Entry is still running and what the earliest start date is for the Job Queue Entry.
