Resource Task Group Assignments

The Start/Stop functionality for resource tasks has been extended by a group selection. This is useful when many resources are assigned to a task. In that case you can open a selection window from the Start/Stop Wizard to select the resources for which the task has to be started.

Group assignments from Project Control Suite

  1. Select a resource group in a projectplanning line and release the planning line as well as the Project Task to create / update the resource task.
  2. Choose the Lightbulb icon, enter Resource Task List, and then choose the related link.
  3. Select the task just created or updated and click the Start option in the ribbon to open the Time Input Line Wizard.
  4. Note that in the wizard the the resource code linked to the current user-ID is specified. This means that you can plan per resource group but time registration is always per resource
  5. Click Finish in the Time Input Line Wizard to actually start the resource task.

Group assignments from Manufacturing

Also in Manufacturing, you can create an assignment for a resource group. That assignment is made specific when the task is started

  1. To open the "Prod. Order Routing Resource" select a production order and from the Line menu select Routing. From the Prod. Order Routing page select Related and click Resources.
  2. In the Prod. Order Routing Resource page you can assign either a Resource or a Resource Group to the operation and specify in a % if assigned to do the Setup or Run the operation (or both).
  3. In this scenario a Resource Group is selected in the production order. Click "Create Task Assignment" in the ribbon to create / update the assignment for the Resource Group.
  4. From the Resource Task List you can now start and stop the resource task in the same way as the Projecttask

Notes

  • In most cases the current user will be a member of the selected Resource Group and Finish can be selected to start the task.
  • If the current user is not part of the selected group, a warning appears to say, "You are not part of the assigned group." The user can then close the Wizard and select another assignment.
  • When the user selects Finish, it is assumed that the user is, temporarily, assigned to another group and the Time Input line is created for that Resource or Resource Group combination.
