Setting up Transport and Deliveries

To use Transport and Deliveries, you must provide some basic settings.

To set up Transport and Deliveries

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon (Alt+Q) enter Transport & Deliveries and click the relevant link.
  2. Typically, you must provide values for the following fields.
Field Description
General tab -
Default Package Type Specify the default container/package type. When adding a new container the default container/package type will be automatically filled.
Use Container Status Loaded When checked a Transport Order, or Delivery Trip, can only be posted when all Containers have the status Loaded.
Container Inventory Check When checked the inventory of the selected container is checked. The user will get a warning when inventory goes negative. The options are as follows: - Blank = No warning is given. - Warning = The user gets a warning that no inventory is available. Accepting the message releases the transport order, or delivery trip. - Error = An error appears and the process is terminated.
Container Location Select the warehouse location where Containers are stored. Usually this is a basic location without any warehouse settings.
Load Length Factor Used to calculate the load length for a container, usually the, average, width of a truck.
Numbering tab -
Inbound Transport Order Nos Specify the number series to be used for the inbound transport orders.
Outbound Transport Order Nos Specify the number series to be used for the outbound transport orders.
Inbound Posted Transport Order Nos Specify the number series to be used for the inbound posted transport orders.
Outbound Posted Transport Order Nos Specify the number series to be used for the outbound posted transport orders.
Delivery Trip Nos Specify a number series to be used for delivery trips.
Container ID Nos Specify the number series to be used for container IDs. Using the IDs ensures that each package is uniquely identified. This feature is useful to work with RFID as well.

Set up per Location

After setting up Transport and Deliveries, you can provide specific settings per location:

Field Description
Transport Order Type This is a mandatory field. Specify the direction of the order. The options are: - Inbound - Outbound
Location Code This is a mandatory field. Specify the Location for the inbound or outbound transport order.
Description Enter a generic description to be used as default in all transport orders for the specified Location and Type. This text can be used as standard text on freight bills.
Cost Warning Use this field to check if cost lines exist when a transport order is released. The options are as follows. - Blank = No warning is given. - Warning = The user gets a warning that no cost lines exist. Accepting the message releases the transport order, or delivery trip without any cost lines linked. - Error = An error appears and the process is terminated. The error appears only if no cost lines are found.
Warehousing must be completed When set the warehouse - and inventory activities must be completed before the transport order for this location is released: inventory pick - posted; warehouse pick - registered; project planning line - posted.
Link Container When this box is checked a transport order is automatically created, or updated, when the container is closed.
