Project Deliveries
Inventory reserved for a Project is depleted by either Consuming it in the Project or Deliver it from the Project. Consuming means that the life of the component ends in the Project and becomes part of the Project Deliverable. Deliver means the component is either first delivered to a project site before being consumed in the Project or the component is delivered to the customer as a separate part of the Project Deliverable, however when completed the material is still consumed. Delivering is postponed Consumption.
- Deliveries are different from a Deliverable: A Deliverable is the end-result of a Project while Deliveries are a method to deplete Project Inventory. - Deliveries can only be made from available Inventory, in other words inventory cannot go negative.
Create a Delivery from a Project
Projects are integrated with Warehouse Management, deliveries can be made from Inventory. IEM follows the Locations Warehouse settings:
- Create a planning line and set the Application to Deliver.
- Copy from a budget line
- Create as New in the Project Item Planning lines
- Post the Project Item Planning line to create a Posted Project Delivery.
- Posted Deliveries are linked to the Project Task and can be found in the Project Task fact-box.
- From the Posted Delivery a Posted Delivery Report can be printed as shipping document.
- The Posted Delivery Line has an Undo Delivery action to roll back the delivery posting.
Business Central offers the following levels in Warehousing:
- No warehousing: all posting done from purchase - and sales documents or item journals
- Basic warehousing: warehouse operations are handled per order through Inventory Put-away and - Picks.
- Advanced warehousing: warehouse operations can combine multiple orders through Warehouse Receipts and - Shipments,
- Directed warehousing: (Not supported in Projects)
The settings for these warehouse scenarios are made on the Location card.
JMS adds the following functionality to Business Central's warehouse integration for Projects:
- Put-away and picking operations can be organized per Project Task instead of Projects.
- From the Project Task a Warehouse Shipment can be created for Project Planning lines with the application type "Delivery", or can be selected in a Warehouse Shipment, to support the Delivery process.
- Transport and Deliveries to add packaging and transport functions to warehousing.
