Create Project Task Matrix

Use the Create Project Task matrix to create a Project Task structure from an Estimate.

  1. Select the Action tab and click the Create Project Task Matrix action to open the page.
  2. In the header specify a Starting No. for the Project Tasks to be created.
  3. In the fields Project Description and Project Description 2 you can select the resp. field to be filled with the ProjectElement - or the ProjectActivity description, "Not Applicable" leaves the description blank to be completed later.
  4. In Step Size set the interval between the Project Task numbers to be created.
  5. In the lines check the cells for which you want to, or not, create Project Tasks. Note: that the system already suggests the Element / Activity combinations as per the Estimate.
  6. Click Create in the ribbon to actually create the Project Tasks

Creating a Timeline

To create a timeline for the Project Tasks just created complete the following steps:

  1. Make sure the Scheduling Direction and Starting Point are set on the planning tab of the ProjectCard.
  2. To calculate the Timeline the Next Task No. field must be specified. This can be done in several ways:
    • From the Project Task list open Actions >> Planning >> Initialize Next Task No's. This action will specify the next task no's in a sequential order.
    • Manually specifying the next task no's especially when the sequence is not sequential and/or you have to specify parallel tasks.
  3. When the next task no.'s are set use the Initialize Task Dates action to calculate the starting and ending dates per Project Task.
