Create Project Task Matrix
Use the Create Project Task matrix to create a Project Task structure from an Estimate.
- Select the Action tab and click the Create Project Task Matrix action to open the page.
- In the header specify a Starting No. for the Project Tasks to be created.
- In the fields Project Description and Project Description 2 you can select the resp. field to be filled with the ProjectElement - or the ProjectActivity description, "Not Applicable" leaves the description blank to be completed later.
- In Step Size set the interval between the Project Task numbers to be created.
- In the lines check the cells for which you want to, or not, create Project Tasks. Note: that the system already suggests the Element / Activity combinations as per the Estimate.
- Click Create in the ribbon to actually create the Project Tasks
Creating a Timeline
To create a timeline for the Project Tasks just created complete the following steps:
- Make sure the Scheduling Direction and Starting Point are set on the planning tab of the ProjectCard.
- To calculate the Timeline the Next Task No. field must be specified. This can be done in several ways:
- From the Project Task list open Actions >> Planning >> Initialize Next Task No's. This action will specify the next task no's in a sequential order.
- Manually specifying the next task no's especially when the sequence is not sequential and/or you have to specify parallel tasks.
- When the next task no.'s are set use the Initialize Task Dates action to calculate the starting and ending dates per Project Task.
