IEM - Transport and Deliveries

Walkthrough: Transport and Deliveries setup

In order to be able to make full use of the Transport and Deliveries add-on, some setup-data needs to be entered.

About this Walkthrough

This walkthrough centers on setting up the appropriate data for Transport and Deliveries. It does not deal with setting up customers, warehouses, locations etc. This walkthrough also does not deal with setting up workflows.

Roles

The setup functionality is usually reserved for application management in combination with the warehouse-manager and/or transport-manager. The setup is not a feature that changes many times.

Prerequisites

Although not described in this walkthrough, customers and items must exist. All transactions will take place in a location that uses both shipments and picks on the outbound transactions. Inbound transactions are based on warehouse receipts and put-away.

Story

We are working for a company that has a warehouse and uses its own trucks and outside trucking companies in order to distribute items to the customers. Simon, the systems implementer, together with transportation coordinator Ted and warehouse manager Ellen ecide they are going to implement Transport and Deliveries. The first step of the implementation is setting up the base data.
