How to: Copy Data Collection Lines

You can open the data collection lines for a master record, then use the Copy Data Collection Lines batch job to copy information from existing data collection lines. This is useful if you are setting up a number of master records that have similar data collection requirements.

The following steps describe how to copy data collection lines between items. The same procedure can be followed for other master records such as locations, customers, vendors, resources, zones, bins, work centers, machine centers, and maintenance assets, but for simplicity only an item is described in detail.

To copy data collection lines

  1. In the Search box, enter Items, and then choose the related link.
  2. Open the item card for the item that will have data collection lines.
  3. On the Navigate tab, in the Master Data group, choose Data Collection Lines. The Data Collection Lines window appears.
  4. On the Actions tab, in the General group, choose Copy.
  5. On the Options FastTab, fill in the fields.
  6. Choose the OK button to start the batch job.

When the batch job is finished, the data collection line information specified in the request form is copied to the new data collection lines.
