What's New in Product Engineering for Dynamics Business Central 2020 Wave 1
A number of new features were introduced in this release:
Certified status for measurement templates Measurement Templates now have a status code with 4 options: New; Under Development; Certified; Closed. An Action will change the status. Measurement Templates can only be edited in the New and Under Development status and only Certified templates will, or can, be selected from an incident or in the item template setup.
Data capture In previous versions data capture (getting additional information in a measurement) was based on BIS connectors. Since the transition to AL this is no longer possible. This function has been replaced with the option to use upto 10 User Defined Fields. In each of these fields a table field can be selected from the table where the measurement template is based on.
Register measurement without checksheet In a previous version a checksheet was always mandatory when registering a checksheet. When the incident type is "Auto pass" a checksheet is no longer required.
Parent questions
It is now possible to link questions to a Parent question. In this way optional question(s) can be added to a checksheet, for example when options are installed on a product.
Mark the sub type field on the question card as Parent to designate that question as a Parent question. The parent question can only be of the type Boolean.
Other questions can then be linked to the parent question by selecting the code in the "Parent Code" field.
When in the checksheet the Parent question is answered with "Yes" the linked questions are expanded.
Additional source templates In previous versions only source templates related to the Incident Type Material could be selected. In this release additional templates have been added to further support the Create Incident Wizard - Incident Types:

- Employee
- Machine
- Work Center
- Machine Center
- Method
- Routing
For all Incident Types ad-hoc incidents can be created through the wizard while for the material Incident Type also in-process incidents can be created by subscribing to an extension point in Dynamics Business Central. The following subscribers are included which means you only have to create a measurement template with the indicated, table, setup:

What's New in Product Engineering for Dynamics Business Central 2019 Wave 2
The main change in this version of Product Engineering is the migration from C/AL to AL as well as the change from Windows - to Web client.
Since the products are now build up as extensions the run-time version of Business Integration Solution is no longer available whiche means:
- For Quality Management an alternative will be developed for retrieving additional data in a Measurement.
- For Engineering Change Management a separate Connectivity Studio license is required when connections with an external engineering system must be made.
Product Engineering has been developed as an extension on the Microsoft Base App. Consequently when installed in combination with IEM or FOOD the dependency must be changed to the IEM - or FOOD Application.
