When employees use a Lifecycle application, they remain in control and drive the workflow forward, but also benefit from an automated, structured process that takes care of the more mechanical aspects of their tasks. Users navigate through the business processes as they usually would, but with the support of intelligent functions that check conditions and authorizations, and trigger routine actions such as printing and posting. Lengthy tasks can be automated to run in the background without impacting system performance.

The Item Status Lifecycle is included in Lifecycle Studio as a working example. When using the Item Status Lifecycle, users will be guided through business processes around Items without interfering with the standard Business Central code. By setting conditions to Lifecycle States and - State Transitions as well as attaching action handlers to the same - States and - State transitions a path through the business process around items is layed out.

Lifecycle Studio integrates with the Business Central Workflows, making it possible to start an approval process from every Lifecycle state. Item Lifecycle adds a state code field and a change status action to the item list and item card. Through additional settings you can control, for each item state, where an item can be used:

  • Create SKU
  • Available for Planning
  • Available for Purchase
  • Available for Assembly
  • Available for Production
